I know I have said it many times before, but one of my favorite things about this job is watching families grow. It is so fun to be able to photograph families at different stages in life. This particular family has been to me about five times so far. We started with a maternity shoot during the first pregnancy and now here we are doing newborns with the second baby. This is baby Morrison - you've all seen her big brother, Cooper on these pages. Well, now it's her turn to be the star:
enjoy the rest of your day!

I'm one day late, but better late than never, right? This is Kate...she turned 4 yesterday - Happy Birthday! She is one beautiful girl. I have photographed her mom and brother a few other times, but this is the first time I met the whole family....they are an absolutely stunning family! And mom knows how to style her sessions - she is already planning her Fall '09 session! Dad is one of the sweetest dads - he actually sent me a very nice email thanking me for the session. That was the ultimate compliment to hear from a dad. Dads always hate me :) - at least until they see their pics on the wall.
Anyway, here is the birthday girl....
and the whole fam having a little fun...
Thank you all for a great session - I really enjoyed this one! Happy Brithday, Kate. Enjoy your party!

Seriously, have you ever seen such awesome hair on a little girl? She looks like she stepped right out of a Pantene commercial. This is Kaitlyn and hard to believe, but she is only two! She and her brother came in for a shoot a couple weeks ago. She is all girl - very head strong, wants what she wants when she wants it (like my whole bowl of lollipops :)) it was fun to watch her in action. And her brother, Luke, was the most chill little kid...didn't make a peep and was just so laid back the whole time. Isn't it funny how kids tend to balance each other out?
it's so true...where does the time go? We spent the weekend celebrating McKenna's 5th Birthday! I really can not believe that my little girl is 5. I swear it seems like yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital. It doesn't seem that long ago that she was so tiny she could fit all curled up on her daddy's chest. Now she walks around with her I-pod on singing Hannah Montana songs - quite a difference from the little baby I remember.
On the flip side, there is a part that I do love. While it's hard watching the time slip away, it's awesome to see her develop into a little lady. She's fun to hang out with and shop with and I can hold a real conversation with her...so I guess it's a trade off.
So, we decided to hold a little photo shoot for her 5 year old pictures. I let her do what *she* wanted and she also got to pick her clothes and the background - she wanted to look "sassy". When I pulled these pics up on the computer, it hit me like a ton of bricks that she's not a baby any more...not at all. What happened to my little girl all swaddled up in pink blanket???
And, finally, here is her 5th Birthday cake. This cake was truly amazing. Her theme was Sleeping Beauty. We usually order all of our cakes from Erica Talorico (her cakes are incredible - www.sweet-cakes.org ) .So, when I told her the theme, she came up with the concept of Sleeping Beauty's dress. I was in love with this cake...and it tasted as good as it looks...is this not adorable?
ok...now I am hungry :)

whenever I photograph a family with three kids, it makes me want just one more baby. Three seems like such a nice number - not too small, not too big. These kids were so awesome...it's so fun to see the difference between the kids - each one with their own, completely different personality.
This is Paige, Elle and Parker. They were photographed here in their backyard (which was simply stunning). I am loving that a lot of my clients are opting to use their own yards for the session. it just allows the kids to be themselves as they are in a comfortable environment. It also lets me get a look at all these amazing homes :)
Ok, this is Paige. She is the oldest. She told me she was sweet --- until you get to know her - then she likes to steal :) She stole all of her mommy's ice cream! Oh well, at least she *looks* sweet...she kind of reminds me of Reese Witherspoon.
Next is Elle...the girly-girl. She is a princess (as you can see) and she decided to put a spell on me and turn me into a frog.
And, the youngest, Parker. Just an all around sweet boy. Didn't complain one bit. You got a love a boy and his teddy bear...
Thanks, guys, for letting me have a glimpse of your world. I enjoyed the "play date"!

Ok, I am finally digging out from my piles of sessions to proof. I don't know what happened but I have just been buried these last couple weeks. I think everyone had their baby at the same time - and they all seem to have made their debut earlier than expected
What a little angel this baby was. Meet Callie (love that name!)...she is two weeks old and just perfect. She slept the entire session - not a peep out of her.
Enjoy your day!

seriously...it was! The cards seemed to be stacked against us on this one.
Mom wanted a pic of her three girls on THE green chair (this chair is becoming pretty famous). In addition, she wanted to do some cake shots with her youngest, Mia, who was turning one. Sure, not a problem. She brings a beautiful cake and three beautiful girls all decked out in polka dots and sun glasses. I'm thinking it's a good day.
So I take a few pics and then, Kate, the middle daughter, decides she is done. Kyra, the oldest, starts hamming it up for me for a second but then she decides to focus on her bribe - a smoothie from starbucks if she's good. All she wants to do is get the smoothie - could care less about the pics. Fine...I move onto Mia and her cake shots, figuring I'll just come back to Kyra and Kate after they have taken a break. I put the cake down in position, put Mia in position, Mia touches the cake - hives EVERYWHERE. She is scratching herself raw and screaming. Shoot over. They go home, call the pediatrician, she has an egg allergy.
Take 2 - we decide to break it up...Mom will bring Mia back solo and we will focus on just her (minus the cake). We will do the "group" on another day. Solo pics go fine...thank god!
Take 3 -We are going to do the girls on the chair outside. So we trek through the field of thorns and bugs carrying a big green chair -(and all I am thinking is there better not be any snakes in here) We get the chair in good light, get the kids on the chair and guess what? Someone has to go to the bathroom! Ummm, there is no bathroom in the field...mom deals with it like a champ...and back to shooting we go.
In the end, everything worked out and pics came out beautiful...but the story behind them makes the photos that much more special. Sometimes, it just takes a little perseverance and determination - and a lot of wine :)

Now, I am tired again just writing about it :)

my poor, neglected blog. I can't seem to keep up this month. Between, birthday's, pre-school graduation, gymnastics recitals and a ton of clients having babies, this month is just slipping away. So here I am, up to my eyeballs with sessions and two kids home all day. Does anyone want to barter for some babysitting?
Then to top it off, my sister has to go and have a baby this month! Doesn't she know how busy I am? :) But I will always make room in my schedule for this little guy...this is little Ethan. He is 9 days old here and just so perfect. Of course, being his aunt, I am little biased, but that's ok!
have a great day!
can you imagine? I pull my hair out with two. I wonder how anyone can get anything done with five. But it's doable - and I have finally met the woman behind the 5 kids. And guess what? She is my new hero! If only she could give me a few lessons on how she does it and manages to keep the kids in line. I thought shooting 5 kids would be bedlam - but not so! They are all very well behaved.
I am buried in tons of sessions to proof but I had to satisfy mom's curiosity...so i peeked at a few.....
and this one might not make it as a 30x40 canvas but it just made me laugh! I guess boys will be boys :)
have a good night!

I am in a little bit of heaven today after an awesome shoot yesterday. This had all the makings of the perfect session...two beautiful, well behaved children (although mom may disagree with me on the well behaved part :), fun clothes and hats, the clients beautiful back yard (you have got to see this yard!), and parents that "get it" and let the kids be kids. Seriously, I could shoot these two all day! This is Kennedy and JD...
too fun! Thanks, guys, for an awesome shoot....and Happy Birthday, JD!
Have a great weekend!
